Romaïssa El Ammani, born in Brussels in 2019, lives in Jette, has Moroccan roots, attends nursery school and is almost six years old at the time of this interview. She enjoys watching television, playing, drawing, doing crafts, going to the park and seeing animals with her friends, picnicking and visiting Quick. She wants to become a doctor and live in a big house when she grows up.

Boris Bartstra, born in Brussels in 2012, lives in Anderlecht, has Dutch and Serbian roots and is a secondary school student. He is multilingual and speaks Dutch, English and Serbian at home, but finds it difficult to not speak French as well. He likes Lego, films, reading, playing music and going to the Chiro youth club. For him, Brussels is his Anderlecht neighbourhood and the area around his school at the Brussels Park, with Central Station, Bozar, La Monnaie, Cinematek and the Cathedral. He celebrates Christmas and Easter twice, Orthodox and Catholic. His questions about the future concern war, poverty and climate change.

Faris Nakshabandi, born in Brussels in 2014, lives in Anderlecht, has Moroccan and Saudi roots and is a primary school pupil. He is 11 years old at the time of this interview. For him, Brussels is the Grand Place, the ice rink at the Sablon, Kinepolis, the Zuidmarkt, Bright Brussels, the Christmas market and multilingualism and multiculturalism. He wants to become a detective or a writer when he grows up.

Swann Noury Hendrix, born in Brussels in 2013, lives in Anderlecht, has Belgian and French roots and is a primary school pupil. He is 11 years old at the time of this interview and enjoys scouting, athletics, the academy, playing with Lego, reading, seeing his friends and playing table tennis. He dreams of a career as a professional footballer. In Brussels, his favourite place is Astrid Park, and he enjoys walking in other parks. He celebrates birthdays and Christmas with his family. He wants to have lots of friends, never get sick, and never end up on the streets.

Théodore Chems, born in 2015 in Brussels, lives in Brussels, has Moroccan roots and is a pupil in primary school. Loves Tour & Taxis, the trampoline park and celebrations such as Eid, birthdays and Christmas. He wants more playgrounds and for people to be more attentive to public transport. His questions to the future are about his health and that of his family and living in a big house with a garden.

Sirine Louhabi Chentouf, born in 2020 in Brussels and aged 5 at the time of this interview, lives in Molenbeek, has Moroccan roots and attends kindergarten. Loves playing and drawing, chocolate sandwiches, watching animated films on the tablet and princesses. She likes going to the park, celebrating Eid after Ramadan and also her birthday. She wants to become a doctor later and dreams of a bigger house in Brussels.

Donald Zeukeng Zebaze, born in 1995 in Cameroon, lives in Sint-Agatha-Berchem, has Cameroonian roots and works as a doctor. He came to Belgium in 2007 at the age of 12 through family reunification and has suffered due to his uncertain status. School and sport help him forward.

For him, Brussels is diversity, the presence of African diaspora and their traditions. After his studies, he returned to his native village to thank his ancestors during a gratitude ceremony. Loves rap music, reading, and driving around.

Johanna Clabots born in 1961, lives in Watermael-Boitsfort and works as a teacher. Came to Brussels to study in 1983, left Brussels in 1998 but has been back since 2008. Loves the life of the city, is active with LETS in her commune, enjoys going to the cinema.
