Dirk Lagast, born in 1964, lives in Koekelberg, has roots on the Belgian coast and works as an alderman and civil servant. In his 41 years in Brussels, he has worked on a wide range of issues: homelessness, youth, mobility, culture, education and heritage. He loves Brussels' multiculturalism, liveliness and history, but regrets the lack of safety, drug-related incidents and some construction projects. Brussels is home to many traditions, such as the Meyboom and its rich café culture, multilingualism and folklore. His questions for the future concern the organisation of the city as a region and the affordability of Brussels for its residents.
