Filip Govaert, born in Brussels in 1949, lives in Schaerbeek and is a retired chimney sweeper. Even though he was born in Brussels and has lived there most of his life, he is not specifically attached to the place. He is bilingual and finds that an added value. He sees that many traditions have disappeared: certain cafés, carnivals, small shops, cinemas, football teams. He associates Brussels with a lot of inconvenience from traffic and planes and with crime. He questions whether Brussels should be the capital of Europe. He likes going to the outskirts around Brussels, the greenery and his family. His questions about the future are about unemployment, crime and politics.
