Concetta Cultrera, born 1968 in Catania, lives in Uccle, has Italian roots and works as an official for the European Commission. First came to Brussels in 1990 and found it grey, dirty and cold. But she came to live there in 1994 and she feels she really loves the south of Brussels, the ponds of Ixelles, the European district. For her, Brussels is Art Nouveau and Art Deco, but also 1960s architecture, and the openness of Brussels people to others. Her questions for the future of Brussels are about lasting openness and justice, its role as a European place of hope, its system of public transport.
