Jean-Paul Mathelot, born in 1950 in Germany, his dad was military, has Belgian roots, has lived in Uccle for 40 years and is retired. He was a journalist and a teacher, but now in retirement he is still a language teacher. Loves jogging, but has to move further and further for a forest and has also seen many castles disappear . For him, Brussels is the rich diversity of its neighbourhoods, even within each municipality. For him, what had a great impact on Brussels is Expo 58, the North-South connection, the European Quarter and the gentrification of various parts of Brussels, but also the increasingly multicultural and multilingual nature of Brussels and, with that, its openness. His questions to the future are about technology and the city, noise and traffic, cleanliness and politics.
